Kano—MINISTER of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau,
has said the Federal Government is set to sponsor 100 first
class graduates for further studies abroad.
He spoke on Sunday in Kano during a media interaction and
an awards ceremony.
Shekarau said the100 first class materials would be
sponsored under the Special Presidential Scholarship
Programme.
According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan has
instructed the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) to
select the best graduates and secure admissions for them
to study up to doctorate level in universities abroad.
“President Jonathan instructed that best students should be
screened all over the country irrespective of their locations
for scholarships outside the country,” he said.
Shekarau said the first batch had been screened and would
soon leave the country to study in the best 25 universities in
the world.
The minister said as part of the government’s effort to
provide Nigerians qualitative education some university
lecturers had been sponsored for various training locally
and abroad.
“The lecturers will study both within and outside Nigeria
under the Tertiary Educational Trust Fund (TETFund).

About six million out of the 2.18 billion Christians in the
world are members of the Living Faith Church, also
known as the Winners Chapel, according to the
President of the Church, Bishop David Oyedepo. The members are spread across 147 nations in the
world, he said on Saturday at a breakfast meeting with
members of Omu-Aran Government Secondary School
Old Boys Association (OGSSOBA), which held at the
Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara, Vanguard
reports.
Oyedepo, who is the Chancellor of Landmark and
Covenant Universities and also a member of OGSSOBA,
advised members of old boys association to rededicate
themselves to arresting the infrastructure decay in all
colleges and institutions across the length and breadth
of the country.
According to him, the task of improving infrastructure in
schools cannot be left to the government alone.
“No amount is too small or too big toward the growth,
progress and development of the schools,” he said.
The newly elected president of the association, Segun
Adeniyi described Oyedepo as a living legend of the
Nigeria’s education sector.
He said that Oyedepo remained a role model to both the
current and old students of Government Secondary
School in Omu-Aran.
Adeniyi appealed to all members of the association to
identify with the aspiration of the school in order to
make it a model among its peers

fake Twitter profile of President Goodluck Jonathan
has caused confusion among Nigerians on who has the
largest followers on the social media platform between
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, a presidential candidate of
the All Progressives Congress, APC, and President
Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Both Buhari, who was a former Head of State, and
incumbent President Jonathan are the two major
candidates to contest for the 2015 presidential elections
in Nigeria.
Only today, 27 December, 2014, Saharareporters.com
released a story with the headline ‘Just 4 Days:
Buhari’s Twitter Followers Already Over Half Of
Jonathan’s Twitter Account Created 4 Years Ago’.
But upon investigation, it was revealed that the Twitter
profile in question, @JGoodlucktweets, though pro-
Jonathan, is not the Twitter profile of the President
neither is it listed on any of the President’s official
platforms.
In fact, one of the President’s aides had given an
interview to a national daily in 2013 explaining why the
President is not on Twitter.
Meanwhile, President Jonathan is verified on Facebook
where he has a following of almost 2 million followers.
It was gathered that the President has the second
largest following of any President after US President,
Barrack Obama and he regularly engages with
Nigerians through that medium.
It would be recalled that in 2010, CNN called Jonathan
the ‘Facebook President’.

23-year-old Shelley-Marie Summer was an object mockery
in high school as her classmates would bully her due to her
severe eczema, which had demeaned her confidence on
social platform, even as her skin clears up in subsequent
years.

She grew out of her complexity after her boyfriend Dean,
made her realize how beautiful she was and encouraged
her to contest for the 2014 Miss Black Country beauty
pageant, which she won.
According to Shellie-Marie, her victimization experience
started back in her elementary school but grew worse when
she got into high school, ‘In primary school it wasn’t as bad
as you’re only children, but at high school the bullying got
much worse. People would try and get away from me like I
was contagious.
“We had to wear long-sleeved shirts so during the summer,
I was always going to see the school nurse to put my
eczema cream on and cool down.”
She added that her small stature and laced skin made her
an easy target for bullies.
She has had the last laugh after winning the beauty
pageant at the regional competition as well as competing in
Miss England.
“It was completely mad. I was sitting on a throne with this
big crown on and my family was staring at me in
amazement. I was extremely happy to have won it,” she
said.
“It feels amazing to show the bullies what I could achieve,
despite all their cruelty”.
Shelley-Marie’s victory has not only improved her self
esteem, but it has also given her a new sense of direction
in life as she aims to become a motivational speaker.
‘In the future I’d like to go into schools and talk about
bullying and self-esteem. I want to urge victims to speak up
and not suffer in silence like I did,’ she stated.

The president, who spoke at the Christ Apostolic
Church, Area I, Durumi, Abuja where he joined other
worshippers for the last Sunday of the year service,
urged special prayers for politicians in the country,
whose utterances, he noted, was capable of setting
Nigeria ablaze.
“Next year is a tempting year for us. Election year in
Third World countries is always a turbulent year with all
kinds of predictions. I, however, believe that God who
brought us to this level will see us through,” Jonathan
said.
“All that I will request of you is to continue to pray for
us politicians, myself and other politicians from all
political parties, for God to guide us in our utterances
and what we do so that we will not sacrifice the lives of
Nigerians because of our ambitions.
“Nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.
Pray to God to give us that wisdom and mind to make
sure we conduct ourselves in a way that will not set the
country ablaze because of our personal ambitions,” he
said.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential
candidate also said that people occupying public offices
are just privileged, as there are several Nigerians who
are also qualified. This, he believes, should make
leaders conduct themselves in the right manner.
“There are so many good Nigerians that can hold the
offices we are occupying or aspiring to occupy, it is by
privilege of God that we are here in positions to ask for
the mandates of Nigerians.
“None of us should begin to think that he is the best
person to be anywhere from state houses of assembly
to the Presidency. There are a thousand and one
Nigerians that are super qualified more than those
people who are even aspiring to occupy offices.
“Pray for us that God should give us the wisdom to
conduct ourselves in a manner that at the end of the
day, this country will triumph,” he said.
Jonathan, while speaking further, noted that leadership
is all about service. According to him, anyone who truly
wants to serve will not encourage killing of opponents,
as is becoming commonplace in our country.
“The development of Nigeria is what all of us want. If
every aspirant has the mind to develop the people, then
you do not need to kill or maim people to get there. You
do not need to kill the people you want to develop in
order to get to the office you want except if you are
aspiring for that office for a different reason.
“If the idea is to help the people, grow the economy and
make the people happy, you won’t want to kill, you
won’t want to maim or burn down houses, vehicles and
property,” the president said.

I updated the war that occurred between the Boko Haram and the Cameroonian.  If you miss that,  read here.  After the war ended,  Cameroon’s army has killed at least 41 Islamist militants as
it fought off a wave of attacks along its border with Nigeria
in an escalation in the conflict, the government said.
The Information Minister, Issa Tchiroma, disclosed this in
Yaoundé on Monday.
Tchiroma said that the coordinated assaults on five towns
and villages showed a change in tactics by Nigerian Boko
Haram fighters, who have focused on hit-and-run raids on
individual settlements in the past.
“Boko Haram’s campaign to carve out an Islamist caliphate
has spread from its stronghold in Northeast Nigeria to
neighbouring Cameroon.
“Raising fears for an already unstable region also
threatened by Islamist militants in the Sahel,’’ he said.
He added that Cameroon has sent thousands of soldiers to
its Far North region to fight off the militants and said it
launched air attacks on the movement for the first time on
Sunday.
“Units of the Boko Haram group attacked Makari, Amchide,
Limani and Achigachia in a change of strategy which
consists of distracting Cameroonian troops on different
fronts.
“Making them more vulnerable in the face of the mobility
and unpredictability of their attacks,’’ Tchiroma said.
He said that no fewer than 34 militants were killed after the
army laid siege to a base used by the militants in Chogori
and seven others, and one soldier was killed near the town
of Waza.
Army spokesman, Lt.-Col. Didier Badjeck, told newsmen
that the Islamists briefly occupied an army camp in
Achigachia after a fierce fight, but withdrew after air
attacks.
“All the militants had now pulled back into Nigeria,’’ Badjeck
said.
Both Tchiroma and Badjeck said it was too early to give full
details of casualties.
Boko Haram has killed over 40 soldiers and recruited
hundreds of youths during raids in Cameroon’s Far North
region this year.

According to Cameronian investigative journalist, Etahoben, members of Boko Haram are currently engaging Cameroonian soldiers in a gun battle at Doublé and Magdeme communities, up north in Cameroon. The sect members killed a Cameroonian soldier and injured three others during a gun battle in Waza-Mora, Cameroon yesterday morning.

As the nation suffers the pains inflicted by insurgency
daily, the DG of Buhari Campaign Organisation, Gov
Rotimi Amaechi has said the country needs a strong-
willed leader like General Muhammadu Buhari urgently
to come in and contain terrorism and other vices in the
country.
Amaechi who stated this at an interactive session with
journalists in Lagos said when Chadian rebels invaded
Borno State in the past, it was Buhari that chased them
away, saying it takes a strong leader to achieve such
security feat.
In his words, “How many Nigerians remember that
Buhari is a strong leader? You need a strong
leader to chase away Boko Haram or Boko Haram
will chase us away. There are reports that 32
persons have been killed in Bauchi and Gombe, so
you need a Buhari to actually fight the insurgents.
“The attitude of the federal government that it is a
northern business is bad. Let them go there. It
may not be what they intend but that is the way
people read it. Whether people say it or not, you
will see clearly that the federal government has
not done well enough in the area of insurgency.
“ It is not because we have a bad military. Our
soldiers are well trained . It is because they are
not well funded. Between the period that the
money gets to the military and the period it is
released, some amounts of money disappear.
“So, we have to deal with the issue of corruption and
that is where the military is having problem. Because if
they are not properly equipped, they cannot fight
insurgency.
“You want to kill 50 military officers who are saying
please equip us properly; we can’t go to the battle front
without the right weapon; now you are sending a soldier
to fight a man with RPG and you gave him old AK47
that cannot even shoot. You are risking his life. They
have a right to protest that. You don’t kill them for
that.”
Amaechi assured that a Buhari-led government if
elected in 2015 will deal with issues realistically.

No fewer than 30 persons were affected by food poisoning
at a Christmas Party on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at
Portsea, in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, south-east of
Melbourne, Australia.

The ambulance in the area were called to the party which
was attended by about 44 people, including six children, at
Percy Cerutty Oval just before 8:00PM (AEDT).
Paramedic team manager Brendan Keane said up to 34
people suffered nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea while at the
party,IBC World News reports.
Although the cause of the food poisoning was not yet
known, the incident was expected to serve as a warning for
careful food preparation.
He said, “About 22 of those made their way home before
paramedics were called to assess 12 others who were still
at the party.”
None of the people left at the party were taken to the
hospital according to the team manager.
“Some of the others who made their way home later called
triple-0,” said Keane.
“A man aged in his 30s was taken to Frankston Hospital in
a stable condition.
“Others were triaged by telephone by an experienced
paramedic and didn’t need an ambulance.”
He added, “With lots of barbeques and parties over the
holidays it’s important for people to take some simple food
handling precautions to reduce the chances of food
poisoning.”

President Obama first daughter Malia is all grown up.
Malia Obama was spotted attending music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago this weekend.
President Obama’s eldest daughter, who recently
celebrated her 16th birthday, was attending the gig with
friends – and a few burly Secret Service members on
Sunday. The teenager attempted to blend in with the
crowd in a summery daisy-print skirt and top and some
grungy boots suited for the muddy field – but failed to
do so because the secret service men can’t stay far
away from her lolz…. even though they tried to make it
look like she was free to mingle with friends.
Tweets from some who got close to her confirmed that
she was actually under some strict watch and limitation
rules. Sorry guys you can get close but can’t touch

More than 200 Muslim youth volunteers are part of
those protecting Christians during church services to
celebrate this year’s Christmas in Kaduna, says Pastor
Yohanna Buru.
Buru, a cleric of Christ Evangelical Church, Sabon
Tasha, Kaduna South, disclosed this in an interview
with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in
Kaduna.
He confirmed that over 200 Muslims were at his church
to help protect the faithful from any attack during the
church service.
According to him, the feat is the first of its kind after the
series of crises that rocked the state in recent past.
Buru said the essence of that was to protect the
Christian worshippers as part of effort to strengthen
peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians
in the state.
The pastor expressed happiness over the protection
given to them by the Muslim brothers.
He noted the initiative was an indication that peace has
come to stay in the state, saying the measure will
strengthen a lasting peace between the two religions.
He also prayed God to continue to bring about peace in
the country the country, praying that other citizens
would emulate the gesture.
He urged Nigerians to learn to live in peace with one
another irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
The cleric said that peace was a major panacea to the
positive development of any nation.

Controversial Pastor, cum politician, Chris
Okotie says he is certain that the incumbent
president of Nigeria is an occultic man and
he can prove it.
Citing GEJ’s presidential declaration on the
eleventh of November, 2014 in his piece
titled “2015 and our crony democracy”
which was posted on his facebook page
hours ago, Okotie stated that the Presidential
declaration on November 11 2014 at the
Eagle squares has an occultic significance.
He says the number, 11, is a sacred number
in the occultic world and that it
demonstrates an
appeasement of the powers of darkness to
favour the supplicant.
“The implication of Dr. Jonathan’s
declaration on that day (11-11-2014)has
occultic significance. When the number is
repeated, it takes a greater ritualistic
intensity. In this case, we have 11-11-11,
because when you add the date 11-11-2014
as a year together, you arrive at 11 also. This
is in consonance with occultic numerology.
In the pre-natural world, the number 11 is a
powerful occultic number: it represents
judgment, destruction and death of man.
Each digit in the 11-11-2014 date, when
added together, viz: 1+1+1+1+2+0+1+4, you
get 11. That’s why the declaration was done
on 11/11/2014, which is the highest level of
occultic numerology. This sacred number in
the occultic world demonstrates an
appeasement of the powers of darkness to
favour the supplicant. The name of satan in
Latin is LVX. L is 50, V is 5 and X is 10.
When you add that together, you get 65.
When you add 6 + 5, you get 11. Satan’s
number is 11.
The question is; was this declaration
orchestrated by occultic considerations, or is
it a mere coincidence? Since 11 represents;
judgment, destruction and death of man, can
we extrapolate from the experiences of
President Goodluck Jonathan’s
administration so far that number 11 has
been prevalent in our nation? Has there
been spiritual judgment, has there been
destruction and death on a large scale? You,
be the judge.”
President Jonathan does not belong to the
Davidic genealogy; he belongs to the house
of Saul and invokes the spirit of Jeroboam.
He swears by the Lord and Malcham. He

A statement from the Nigerian Police below...
On December 16th at about 9:10am, military
personnel on Stop and Search along Potiskum Road
by Ashaka/Bajoga Junction intercepted one Honda
Odyssey vehicle with registration number AT 670 DKA
(Yobe) driven by a man later identified as Nuru Fika.
The driver who claimed that the car was faulty
requested the security personnel to assist him in
pushing the car. But the driver was requested to open
the booth for searching which he refused. The booth
was forced opened and Improvised Explosive Device
(IED) were discovered there in. The driver took to
flight but was arrested after sustaining gunshot
wound, he was pronounced dead at the Hospital.

cylinders were recovered from different
compartments of the vehicle, all recovered IEDs were

A Rejoinder to ‘Semi-Illiterate’ PDP Secretary Prof. Wale Oladipo by Dr. M.K. Hassan

I was shocked to read a press statement
from Wadata Plaza issued by a so called
Professor Wale Oladipo, secretary of the
PDP, saying that General Muhammadu
Buhari is a semi illiterate jackboot. It is no
wonder that our education system has
fallen so low, else how can one explain a
professor making such a statement? How
did Wale Oladipo become a professor to
start with? It is quite astonishing that he
can say this. The professor doesn’t seem to
understand the basic rudiments of learning
and what it means for one to be literate or
not.
Buhari attended the best military schools in
the world. In case the professor doesn’t
know, Buhari graduated as a military
officer (Lieutenant) in Royal Military
Academy, Aldeshot UK. He attended the
Defense College India. Col Buhari attended
the US Army War College Carlisle in
Pennsylvania from 1979 -1980 and earned
his command as a Brigadier General. The
respected General Collin Powel attended
the same school in 1976 to become
Brigadier General. Some of Buhari’s
classmates include General Beltson,
General Thomas P Carney, General Bill
Matz, General David E.K. Cooper etc. all of
them are alive and can be reached and
they will give glowing tributes of the man,
Buhari, they know as their classmate.
The curriculum at the U.S. Army War
College earns one a Masters Degree in
Strategic Studies and that is what Buhari
has.
Anyone interested in verifying Buhari’s
academic credentials can write the school
instead of reading jargon from a deranged
Wadata Plaza Professor of Politics of
Destruction Party (PDP). I have checked
Google Scholar hoping that Prof. Wale
Oladipo’s name and publications will show
up and nothing is showing up, that says a
lot about him as a Professor than Buhari as
a retired decorated General who served his
country so well and has not claimed any
scholarship.
For somebody to claim that a graduate of
such a prestigious school is semi-illiterate,
means something is very wrong with that
person’s brain. By all academic and
military standards, Buhari’s education is
superb and the best any general can get in
the world. Therefore, for Wale Oladipo to
claim Buhari is semi-illiterate speaks
volumes about his understanding of what
education is even all about. The unlearned
professor thinks education is about earning
paper degrees only, and even if it was the
case, Buhari has them from the most
respected military institutions in the world.

General Muhammadu Buhari has the kind of military strategic education and
experience to deal a decisive blow on Boko Haram and end the insecurity challenges facing Nigeria. Buhari is the only army
officer with the opportunity to command 3
out of 4 Nigeria’s army divisions as a GOC.

In 1983, when rebels from Chad took over our land, seizing more than 19 villages (much like what the Boko Haram is doing now), Major General Buhari led a
successful operation as the GOC to push
back the Chadian rebels and reclaim our
territory.

In 1984, when the Maitatsine sect decided to declare war on Nigeria like what Boko Haram is doing now, Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari wasted no time in crushing them. Boko Haram is a
descendant of the Maitatsine sect with the same extremist ideology and anti-western education philosophy. It is surely President Buhari that will be able to handle them:
eliminating these terrorists when he comes to power like he did before. Muhammadu Buhari as a captain fought in the Congo
Civil War and won the Congo Medal. He
was there during our civil war to bring
peace and keep Nigeria one. That is true
patriot: a man that gave his life to another
country not only his fatherland.
Since the goons in Wadata Plaza have
started the literacy debate, it is very
appropriate to ask them that they produce
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s Ph.D thesis and
publications in renowned journals.
Goodluck’s speeches, attitude, and
interviews with international media don’t
portray him as a Ph.D holder. His past
interview with Christiane Amanpour was
quite embarrassing; he couldn’t even make
eye contact with her. Nigerians are eager to
read his thesis and publications.

In conclusion, it is obvious to all Nigerians that the PDP government and its illiterate
professor are only interested in playing
dirty politics with the lives and properties
of Nigerians. Nigerians now need Buhari, a man with international military education
and experience, a seasoned administrator
with zero tolerance for corruption to end
this insecurity, bring prosperity, and place
Nigeria at the seat it deserves in the comity of nations.

Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Yero has urged
religious leaders to educate their followers on proper
conduct ahead of the 2015 elections.
Yero spoke, Monday, when the leadership of the state
chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)

According to him, leadership comes from God. People
must therefore learn to allow the will of God to always
prevail.
He noted that the Church had a role to play in ensuring
peaceful elections. He therefore urged the Christian
leaders to preach peace, love and mutual coexistence
before, during and after the election, so as to engender
growth and development in the state and the country.
He prayed for a peaceful Christmas celebration, and
wished the people of the state happiness.
State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Fr George Dodo, who

motor park in Gombe state has emerged. This is horrible and so sad. See photos after the cut...

If you've been following the Sony, North Korea and the US
government saga then you should know what this is about.
But let me give a brief summary because I'm about to board
a flight.
Sony Pictures released a movie called The Interview, a
comedy about a fictional assassination of North Korean
leader, Kim Jong Un.. North Korean didn't find it funny and
hacked into Sony's computers, rendering thousands of
computers inoperable and forced Sony to take its entire
computer network offline. That wasn't enough, they then
threatened terror attack on US citizens if Sony doesn't
cancel showing the movie, forcing Sony to pull the interview
from theaters and losing almost $200m. Then the US govt
got involved and told Sony to go ahead and release the
movie, that they don't take lightly to threats and promised to
retaliate for the attack on Sony. It looks like they've kept
their to promise. North Korea is currently offline.

"Internet connectivity between North Korea and the outside
world is currently suffering one of its worst outages in
recent memory, suggesting that the country may be
enduring a mass cyber attack a few days after President
Obama warned the US would launch a "proportional
response" to North Korea's hack against Sony
North Korea, which has four official networks connecting
the country to the Internet -- all of which route through China
-- began experiencing intermittent problems yesterday and
today went completely black, according to Doug Madory,
director of Internet analysis at Dyn Research in Hanover,
New Hampshire." Bloomberg reports.
This is so funny. LOOOLLLL

Two Nigerian rappers, Phyno and Olamide,
have made a lot of success as indigenous
rap acts – And according to Phyno in a chat
with HipHopWorld recently, said that he’s
inspired by Olamide, because of his hard
work.
‘Ola is a very hardworking dude, one of the
most hardworking artistes in Nigeria,
putting out 3 albums in 3 years! Men, no be
beans, I’m not sure any artiste has done that
in Nigeria. and anytime we step into the
studio together, he inspires me and I inspire
him and any track we jump on, we must
surely kill it”
