Customers who switched from iOS to Android
have reported that they are no longer receiving
texts, but the deactivation tool will solve this
issue.
The reason for the disappearing messages is that
Apple continues to route texts sent to an old
iPhone number through iMessage, hence the need
for a fix.
To deactivate iMessage, users can enter their
phone number on the Apple website to receive a
six-digit separation code to their new phone.
However, those who have kept their old iPhone
can simply place their new SIM inside it and turn
off iMessage via the Settings menu. A disgruntled
Samsung device owner sued Apple over the issue
back in May, and the company vowed to address
it shortly after.
