enate President, David Mark, on Friday assured that in
spite of the apprehension surrounding the conduct of
the February general elections, the exercise would be
peaceful and the outcome ‘cheering’ to all Nigerians.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the
Senate President, Paul Mumeh, said that Mark stated
this while receiving the United States Ambassador to
Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, who was on a courtesy
visit to his office in Abuja.
Mark also told his guests that the Independent National
Electoral Commission had been well equipped with
necessary tools and personnel for the polls and that
Nigerians are also ready.
He said, “Nigerians are ready for the elections. Our
citizens are now more conscious of their rights and
indeed the values of their votes. What we expect from
our friends and the international community is support
and cooperation.
“Security challenge is there but we have intensified
efforts and our security operatives now equipped to
contain the situation.
“So far, Nigerians are desirous of a peaceful conduct of
the elections. I’m sure the outcome would be cheering
to all”.
The senate president also expressed the hope that the
exercise would be interesting even as he commended
the government and people of the US for the support to
Nigeria especially towards the election.
In his remarks, the ambassador noted that Nigeria was
heading towards a great democratic exercise in 2015,
which the global community was looking forward to
with keen interest.
Mr. Entwistle also stressed the need for a violent-free
election and expressed satisfaction that all the leading
presidential candidates for the polls had signed an
agreement for a violent-free election next month.

lleged N500m Loot Refund: Return Remaining Money, Apologize To Oyo People – APC Tells Ladoja

The Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress,
APC, on Friday in Ibadan, the state capital, asked the
former Governor of the state and gubernatorial
candidate of Accord Party in next month’s general
elections, Senator Rashidi Ladoja to “tender an
unreserved apology to the people and hurriedly return
the remaining money and all the government properties
in his possession”.
The call came on the heels of the controversies
surrounding the alleged refund of over N500million to
the coffers of Oyo State Government by the former
governor through the Economic and Financial Crimes
and Commission (EFCC) following plea bargaining.
Few days ago, Governor Abiola Ajimobi had claimed
that the Oyo State Government had received
N500million from the former governor as part of a plea
bargain deal he entered into with the EFCC over the on-
going corruption litigation, which has been said to be
threatening his governorship ambition but Ladoja
fought back, demanding a retraction and unreserved
apology from the governor. He subsequently instructed
his lawyer to institute a N1billion libel suit against the
governor.
But the APC, in a statement issued by its Director of
Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, described
Ladoja as “a shameless jester in the field of politics
who was only trying to hang on to the remnants of his
political war chest to enable him get more patronage
from Dr. Goodluck Jonathan having entered into an
agreement with the President’s wife, Dame Patience
Jonathan, to mobilize his Accord Party members in
support of the PDP in the February 28, 2015 elections”.
The statement read in part: “From legal, moral and
ethical perspectives, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja has
established himself as unfit to govern Oyo State again.
It will go down in the history of this nation that a
voracious character like him once threw shame into the
wind and tried to hold the people of the state into
ransom for finding him unworthy of their trust.
“With admittance of guilt by employing plea bargaining
option over a corruption case against him, Ladoja
stands unqualified to seek the people’s mandate. With
his latest pranks in the mode of playing the Ostrich
after he had forced the state government to make
public the damning evidences of his plea bargaining
deal, he has a moral burden on his neck and by seeking
to denigrate our traditional institution at all times, he
has failed a simple challenge of ethics.
“So, no interpreter is needed to explain to Ladoja the
reason behind his rapidly declining support from the
people. In his personal pictures on campaign posters;
people see exhaustion, covetousness and
hopelessness. In his jingles on the airwaves, people
perceive grand delusion and folly as well as abuse of
Yoruba language. More so, he nailed the coffin of his
party recently when he submitted names of ghost
members as candidates in the coming elections.
“However, there are some options for self-redemption
before the former governor if he cares to know; he can
do well by tendering an unreserved apology to the
people of the state over his numerous betrayal of their
trust. He should endeavour to return all the public
monies and properties he looted while in government.
And lastly, he should withdraw from politics and attend
to long abandoned issues of concern in his family and
private businesses”.

PDP Won’t Allow Desperate Politicians To Hijack Power, Says Aliyu

Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, on Friday
said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would
not allow desperate politicians to take over the affairs
of the country this year, adding that the party would
campaign hard and ensure victory for its candidates, so
that they would continue the transformation of the
county.
He also described those who left the PDP for the All
Progressives Congress (APC) as selfish politicians, who
don’t have the interest of the country at heart.
Aliyu spoke in Mangu Council, Plateau State, during the
official flag-off campaign for Senator Gyang Pwajok,
the PDP gubernatorial candidate of Plateau.
“In the PDP, we cannot succumb to cheap blackmail
with people who can’t play politics the way it is
supposed to be played. The PDP has done a lot in
transforming the country and would continue to do so.
We are calling on the people of the state to come out en
masse come February 14 to vote for President
Goodluck Jonathan”, Aliyu said.
Also speaking at the occasion, Benue State Governor,
Gabriel Suswan, said the North Central Zone would
ensure victory for President Jonathan at the February
14 presidential elections.
“We in the North Central are like a family and we would
deliver our President”, he said and urged people in the
zone to forget about the propaganda of the APC and
work for the victory of the PDP.
“Our presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan, has
the interest of the country at heart and would continue
transforming the nation if he is re-elected”, Suswam
added.
The Senate President, David Mark, who was the
chairman of the occasion, said the PDP would win with
transparent votes in the forthcoming elections. “North
Central is for President Jonathan and we will continue
to support him and the party always”, he said and
cautioned youths against playing politics of violence.
The senate president also enjoined them to get their
Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) so that they won’t be
disenfranchised at the polls.
The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the state, Mr.
Pwajok, in his speech, called on people of the state to
work for victory of the party in next month’s elections.
He also tasked citizens of the state to always be their
brothers’ keepers regardless of tribe and religion and
pledged to consolidate on the achievements of the
incumbent governor, Mr. Jonah Jang.

Organisation, Mr. Daniel Kungmi, who also spoke at the
occasion, said Plateau has been a traditional home of
the PDP and would not afford to fail the party this time

With a simple technique, psychologist Arthur Aron made
two strangers fall in love.
If you’ve been crushing on someone for quite
sometime, then this is the news that you want to hear.
Because contrary to those feelings of doubt, there is a
real possibility that you can, finally, get your crush into

In the New York Times this past weekend, Mandy Len
Catron, wrote about psychologist Arthur Aron, and how,
with a simple technique, he made two strangers fall in
love. She also wrote about how she applied it to her
own life and — voila! — magic there, as well.
Dr. Aaron’s study was all about questions and staring.
The two participants in the study were to sit facing each
other while answering a series of questions about
death, family relationships, dreams, love, and so on.
Each question got more and more personal, with the
final question, or rather statement, being, “Share a
personal problem and ask your partner’s advice on how
he or she might handle it. Also, ask your partner to
reflect back to you how you seem to be feeling about
the problem you have chosen.” After that part of the
experiment was finished, the two were to stare into
each other’s eyes for four minutes.
It might seem simple, but what it’s really doing is
opening up a path to honesty and communication
through intimacy. The strangers in that initial study
ended falling in love and were married six months later.
So, with that as her inspiration, Catron, did the same
with a “university acquaintance,” and had the same
results.
But before we go crazy and start chasing Ryan Gosling
down the streets, begging for him to look into our eyes
for four minutes, take a step back. As with all things in
life, there’s no guarantee. But what the experiment
does do is “generate trust and intimacy, the feelings
love needs to thrive,” and that makes for a great
jumping off point. There’s also something really
intense about staring into the eyes of someone for four
minutes. As Catron noted:
“I’ve skied steep slopes and hung from a rock face by a
short length of rope, but staring into someone’s eyes
for four silent minutes was one of the more thrilling and

lot of nervous smiling until, eventually, we settled in. I

2015 Election: APC Will Win 28 States On First Ballot – Ngige

Chris Ngige, a senator representing Anambra Central
Senatorial District, has predicted that the All
Progressives Congress, APC, will win 28 states on first
ballot in February general election.
Mr. Ngige told newsmen in Awka on Thursday that his
prediction was based on facts and surveys conducted
by independent researchers.
Mr. Ngige, who is the Coordinator of Muhammed Buhari
Presidential Campaign in the South-East, said that
following the prediction, APC would form the next
government at the centre.
“Our party will win in 28 states in the first ballot; we
have done everything humanly possible to educate our
people to follow this change.
“We have done very well in making the people believe in
APC despite the vilification by the PDP”, he said.
He explained that the APC presidential candidate
campaign in the South-East would start in the zone on
January 10 and would end with a rally in Oweri on
January 12.
“Our campaign is issue-based as we are championing
for change that will affect the lives of the people of the
country; we will address the issue of security, welfare
and the economy”, he said.
He, however, said that the Igbos were pushing
themselves into marginalisation as “they were not
playing good politics”.
According to him, Igbo play bad politics by putting all
their eggs in one basket and that is why they lost in
APC.
“Unless there is a decisive decision by the Igbo
merchants and oil traders to participate in Nigerian
politics, the people will continue to be marginalized”, he
said.
Mr. Ngige, who is re-contesting the February 14
senatorial election for the Anambra Central District,
said he had achieved a lot to merit another tenure.
He promised to provide more dividends of democracy to

Brushing after meals
Obsessed with your pearly whites, you have taken to
brushing your teeth after every meal. But your mommy
told you only to brush your teeth twice a day — before
breakfast and before bedtime. Turns out she was right.
Dental experts say that rushing to the bathroom
immediately after a meal is not good for your teeth.
The breakdown of food in the mouth leaves an acidic
residue which weakens the enamel the protective layer
on the teeth. Brushing the teeth when the enamel is
weak, can strip the enamel permanently, causing tooth
sensitivity.
Instead: It’s a good idea to wait for at least an hour
after the meal before reaching out for the toothbrush. If
you must dislodge food particles that remain after
eating, rinse your mouth with water.
Using the hand sanitiser
Do you have a habit of reaching out for the hand
sanitiser each time you touch the handle on the train,
especially after the last person to hold it was a
noticeably sweaty commuter? You might be doing
yourself more harm than good.
While hand sanitisers are a convenient method of
cleaning hands and getting rid of germs, it’s important
to use them properly. According to a research
conducted by University of California Davis, US, most
hand sanitisers contain a chemical called triclosan
which gets absorbed easily by the skin. As it enters the
blood stream, it disrupts cell communication necessary
for muscle coordination. Long term use can leave the
skin dry and cause problems such as infertility, early
puberty and poor heart function.
Instead: When possible, use the time-tested method of
washing your hands with soap and water.
Ditching weights for cardio
Nothing is as good as a run or swim in the morning.
Especially if compared to lifting weights at the gym.
While this could work if your aim is just to stay fit, if
you plan on losing weight, you need to stop being
exclusive with the cardio.
The body gets accustomed to the same type of exercise
and stops burning calories. Celebrity trainer Satyajit
Chaurasia says including some weight training along
with cardio is the fastest way to lose weight and gain
muscle mass alongside. “Alternating between cardio
and strength training keeps the heart rate up while also
giving the whole body a workout. It keeps the body in
shock and doesn’t let it get used to a particular type of
routine, where burning calories becomes stagnant.”
Instead: If you are an outdoors person and don’t like to
join a gym, Chaurasia suggest that you find a bench
and a pair of dumbbells. “For beginners, these will be
enough to work your upper body,” he says.
Changing your cosmetics
The luxe cosmetic brand just announced a new product
and you have already bought the new bottle of cream,
ditching it for the tube you just bought last month.
While pumping money into a new skin-care product is
bad for your wallet, it also does great harm to your
skin.
Dermatologist Dr Manohar Sobhani says, “The human
skin has a pH (potential Hydrogen) level of 5.5.
Cosmetic makers differ from each other on the pH
value of their products. When people, who have
sensitive skin, experiment with products of varied pH
values, it may result in red, patchy or inflamed skin. For
instance, most soaps have a pH value higher than 5.5
and are alkaline (harsh for the skin).”
Changing cosmetics once every few weeks can damage
your skin leaving it ridden with rash, pimples or acne.
And no, reaching for another product won’t help.
Instead: Sobhani recommends going only for trusted
brands, and always reading the pH value mentioned at
the back of the product.
Wearing flip flops
You are afraid that heels will kill your knees and ankles,
and think flats are the way to go, especially in Mumbai
where the weather permits it. Right? You couldn’t be
more wrong.
Podiatrist and mobility consultant Chaitanya Shah says
flip flops are not good as they do not provide any arch
or structural support to the feet. “While walking, the
toes have to constantly grip the slippers to control and
balance them from slipping out. This alters the natural
foot lift-off and landing and could lead to problems
such as plantar fasciitis — inflammation of the thick
tissue on the bottom of the foot,” he says.
Instead: It is a good idea to wear flip flops at home, but
ditch them when stepping out.
Drinking only bottled water
Bottled water is processed water and has been stri*ped
off minerals. In tropical climates such as Mumbai, it
serves the purpose of hydration. But in the long run, it

Youth Corpers To Continue Receiving Allowances After Discharge If Buhari Wins In February

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has promised
to continue paying Youth Corps members who do not
get jobs after their discharge, for 12 months, under
skills and entrepreneurial development programmes, if
he wins the February presidential election.

This is contained in his 18-page manifesto titled
“Securing Nigeria’s Future” which was published on his
campaign website.

The former head of state also promised to provide One
Meal a day for all Primary school pupils and create a
Social Welfare Program of at least N5,000 aimed at
providing succour for the 25 million poorest and most
vulnerable citizens in the country.

He also stressed the need for the country to build
infrastructure and revive the public and private sectors.

“As a nation and the Sub Saharan Africa’s leading
energy producer, we had in the past squandered the
opportunity to build functional infrastructure to better
the lives of the average Nigerian. We can no longer
afford this luxury of inactivity. We must revive our
public and private sectors in order to provide functional
services and secure the good of the individual Nigerian
and his or her family,” the document read in part.

Buhari also pledged to, as a matter of urgency, address
the challenge of insecurity in the country. He plans to
do this by establishing a well-trained, adequately
equipped and goals driven Serious Crime Squad to
combat insurgencies, kidnapping, armed robbery, ethno
religious and communal clashes.

“We will urgently secure the territorial integrity of the
nation. We will never leave the defence of the nation in
the hands of Hunters, Children, and Civilian JTF. We will
urgently address capacity building mechanisms of law
enforcement agents in terms of quantity and quality as
this is critical in safeguarding the sanctity of lives and
property; establish a well-trained, adequately equipped
and goals driven Serious Crime Squad to combat
insurgencies, kidnapping, armed robbery, ethno
religious and communal clashes, nationwide,” he said in
the document.

The APC presidential candidate said he has come to the
rescue of Nigeria, promising to touch all critical sectors,
ensuring the right policies are put in place. He pledged
20 percent of annual budgets to education and vowed
to grow the economy at real GDP growth averaging at
least 10-12 percent annually.

Jonathan Wasted Over $25bn Oil Savings – OBJ

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has again
slammed President Goodluck Jonathan, this time, over
alleged extravagance. Obasanjo claimed that the
president squandered $25 billion crude oil savings left
behind by his administration, adding this is partly
responsible for the falling value of the naira.
Obasanjo said that his successor, Musa Yar’adua
raised the savings from $25 billion to $35 billion, but
Jonathan squandered all.
“Our economy should not have been this bad. When I
was leaving office about eight years ago, I left a very
huge reserve after we had paid all our debts. Almost
$25billion was kept in what they called excess crude,
including the excess from the budget we were saving
as reserve for the rainy days. When we left in May,
2007, the reserve was said to have been raised to
$35billion,” the former president said, while hosting the
South-West women leaders at his residence in
Abeokuta.
“But today, that reserve has been depleted! The reserve
we left when we finished paying all our debts, our debts
that was about $40 billion, that is including debt
forgiveness, the remaining debt was not more than $3
billion. Our reserve after we had paid off this debt was
about $45 billion. As at the end of 2007, I heard that the
reserve increased to almost $67 billion before the end
of that year. But our reserve now, I learnt is left with
around only $30 billion.
“That is why the Naira has been falling against the
dollar. What would now happen? I learnt if you want to
buy a dollar now, it’s about N192 or N195. What it
means is this, what you have been buying at N150 to a
dollar, now you need N192 or N195 to buy it. That is the
real situation. Is there any remedy? There is, but it does
not come overnight because it means we have to give
up all the bad things we have been doing,” Obasanjo
said.
Speaking further, he said “I know that God did not
create Nigeria not to be rich or great. Is it that the
people he created in Nigeria are not knowledgeable
enough or not intelligent enough? Or is it that they don’t
know their rights? Our problems in Nigeria lie with the
leadership. Let’s look at the foundation of our
leadership. In the profession I know very well, the
military, what we normally say is that there are no bad
soldiers but bad officers. If you see a situation where
the soldiers are not doing well, we need to examine the
officers in charge. So it is in the family, the community,
the town and the country.
“Truly, the price of crude has fallen, but anyone who is
wise enough should know that since we depend on just
one resource and since we have no control over its
pricing, we should be planning for this type of situation
and the way out of it. Our inability to have a reserve has
brought us into this economic quagmire.
“If we are going to solve unemployment problem, it is
through agriculture and not through oil and gas. Now,
we have no alternative. Agriculture is renewable
because the land can be used over and over again, but,
once a barrel of oil is gone, it’s gone forever, “he said.
Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Obasanjo
allayed fears about how things may turn out to be. He
however advised the electorate to vote people of
integrity and good track record.
“Good governance comes from voting, from selection of
leaders. It is now left to you to decide who you cast
your vote for because if you throw away your votes and
tomorrow you are saying good governance, once you
throw away your votes you have lost out. That is one.
Find out the track records of achievements of those you
want to vote for. What have they achieved in the past
and not what they have said,” the former president
advised.

Babangida Compares His Government With Jonathan’s, Others Says He Was A Saint

Former Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida
(IBB) has compared how he left Nigeria in 1993 to the
way things are now and declared himself a saint.

Babangida, who spoke in an interview published in the
December 2014 edition of Zero Tolerance Magazine, a
publication of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC), also explained why he toppled the
government of Gen Muhammadu Buhari in 1985 coup.
Widely believed to have institutionalize corruption in
Nigeria, IBB, in his reaction, said, “Yeah I know. Maybe
I have to accept that, but anybody with a sense of
fairness has no option but to call us saints. I think my
government was able to identify corruption prone areas
and checked them.
“I don’t have the facts but if what I’m reading in the
papers is currently what is happening, then I think we
were angels. In a year I was making less than seven
billion dollars in oil revenue, in the same period there
are governments that are making 200 to 300 billion
dollars. With seven billion dollars, I did the little I could
achieve: with 200 billion there is still a lot to be
achieved,” he said.
Commenting on reports that $12 billion Gulf war
windfall was stolen, the former president said it was
used to build infrastructure in the country, such as
Abuja, the country’s capital and the third mainland
bridge in Lagos.
“I built Abuja. Today we have a brand new capital, we
used that money. I gave you a third mainland bridge,
Lagos; you cannot build it now for all the money Nigeria
is making. And what did it cost me? 500, 600, 700
million naira,” he said.

He further dismissed allegations of corruption, saying
he was the most investigated president in the country’s
history and no one had been able to indict him.
“Let me tell you something, I have been the most
investigated president Nigeria has ever had. By now
somebody should have come forward to say here it is.
Every government that came after me investigated me
because of that perception. Because they wanted to
retrieve the billions I stole,” he said.

Explaining why he staged a coup against Buhari in
1985, Babangida said coups are usually a response to
the yearnings of the people.
“A coup or change comes about if there is frustration in
the society, just get that right. There was frustration in
the society between 1984 and 1985; the ground was
fertile for a coup.

“It wasn’t fertile, thanks be to God, in December, 1985
when the first attempt on me was made, neither was it
fertile in April 1990 when the second attempt was made
and we had the support of all of you sitting down here.

“You write, you analyze, you talk, and you
demonstrated. It was not unusual then to hear, in the
case of the democratically elected government in 1983;
a common phase was ‘the worst military regime is
better than this government’.
“So you were giving us the impetus to stage a coup. We
are not dummies, if we didn’t have the support of all of
you we wouldn’t venture into it,” he said.

prediction concerning the country hinging it on the
sensitivity of the election year.
On what members of RCCG should expect in the New
Year, the cleric, fondly called Daddy G.O. by all and
sundry, told the gathering that the prophecies would be
relayed to them through their pastors.
On prophecies about individuals, the seer said for
members of the church, who obeyed the instruction to
fast for 100 in 2014, they should expect great harvest of
blessings from God.
He said God told him that 2015 will be a year of dreams
fulfillment, miraculous completion of projects,
miraculous restorations and a year that will replete with
testimonies such that “those who have none before will
have some this year.”
The crossover service began with a Holy Communion
service which was the last for year 2014 and thereafter
a service of songs in which the GO’s wife, Folu and her

Father Christmas Defiles 5-Yr-Old Schoolgirl

A nursery and primary school in Ojodu-Abiodun area of
Lagos state during their end of the year Christmas party
has encuntered what can be said to be an awful father
Christmas experience few days ago.

The event which was supposed to be full of happiness
and merriment amongst the teachers,students and
every parent present at the event turned awry after a
five-year-old pupil from the school complained that the
Father Christmas dipped a finger in her v**ina and
blood came out when she went in for her gift.

The odd incident was said to be reported at a police
station in the area following which the said Father
Christmas was arrested penultimate Friday and later
released on bail. He was thereafter mandated to report
to the station last Monday.
However, Sun reports that when during the
investigation to make up this report, when the police
station where the matter was reportedly handled was
visited, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) denied
knowledge of the case, saying that no such matter was
brought before him.
However, further investigations showed that the matter
was actually reported at that station. A petty trader
around the police station made it known that the matter
did not involve a Father Christmas, but a Barney
brought to the party by the party organizers hired by the
school for the event.She explained that it was even the
owner of the business that was arrested and not the
culprit as he could not be traced after the incident. She
said that she knew about the matter when she saw a
pregnant woman by her shop (who she claimed was the
wife of the man arrested) crying while the man was
detained at the police station. Although the woman
argued that the man on the run was innocent of the
charge, she could not explain why the said offender
disappeared following the report.
It was her view that the parents of the girl were not
telling the whole truth, as they were alleged to have
taken the child to a hospital as far as Ogba, in Lagos,
for test that would ascertain the truth of the matter.
According to her, they claimed that it was their family
hospital. She believed that the police were in the best
position to decide where the test should have been
done.

“I know the man that was arrested. He runs a
party organizing outfit, which the school hired.
When people rent the Barney costume, anybody
can then wear it. When someone rented it in my
compound, it was even my son that wore it.
Anybody can wear it. The person who wore the
costume during the party allegedly dipped his
finger in the girl’s v**ina, and then ran away.
They have not seen him till now,” she
explained

Another respondent, a woman who lives next door to
the school confirmed the story saying it was actually a
man in Father Christmas costume that committed the
offence. The school, a two-storey building, is adjacent
to her house. She, however, explained that the parties
had settled matter.

“They were having the party upstairs when the
thing happened; they have a hall where they
hold parties upstairs. But they have settled it.”
She even assured the reporter who she believed
was an intending patron, that the school was a
very good one. “It is just that one (referring to
the incident). I am a teacher myself, and I can
tell you that the school is very good.”

Pakistan Taliban: US Drone ‘Kills Militants’ In Tribal Region

Pakistan officials say a US drone that striked near the
Afghan border has killed at least six militants. They
said further that the strike in the tribal region of North
Waziristan targeted the compound of Hafiz Gul
Bahadur, who heads a powerful Taliban faction. BBC
reports:

Pakistan has stepping up its own offensive
against insurgents after Taliban militants
killed 132 children at a school in Peshawar
last month.
The military launched a major offensive in
North Waziristan in June.
It says more than 1,700 militants have been
killed since the operation began.
“A US drone fired two missiles which hit a
compound and a vehicle in Alwara Mandi of
North Waziristan… killing six terrorists,” a
senior security official told AFP news agency
on Sunday.
The strike followed Pakistani air raids on
militant hideouts in Tirah Valley in the Khyber
region on Saturday, according to the
Associated Press.
Pakistan’s efforts to stamp out insurgent
networks have focused on the North
Waziristan and Khyber regions on the border
with Afghanistan.

RIP: Legendary ESPN anchor Stuart Scott dies at age of 49

Legendary Sportscaster and longtime anchor on ESPN
Stuart Orlando Scott died today January 4th after a seven
year battle with cancer. ESPN announced his death this
morning.
Scott, who worked as an anchor for ESPN and ABC Sports
for 21 years, was one of the most recognizable figures on
US sports television and in July 2014, he received the
Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs - where he
opened up about his battle with cancer.
He said he had 4 surgeries in seven days in the week prior
to his appearance at the ESPY, when he was suffering from
liver complications and kidney failure.
"When you die, it does not mean that you lose to
cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you
live, and in the manner in which you live."
He's survived by two daughters.
